Braun Valerius - Strategic Management

Dear Audience,

the wait for the 2013 UEFA Champions League final is nearly over, with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich two German Bundesliga teams set to square off for the title in Wembley on May 25.

This is the first time that two German clubs have reached the UEFA Champions League final. And both of them have a special link to Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. First of all, Munich is the „headquarter“ not only from the famous FC Bayern Munich, but also from Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. And Borussia Dortmund, is a team that Roland Berger successfully helped, when the football club was facing ruin in 2005. With the recovery plan put together by Roland Berger, Borussia Dortmund went on to revive itself and win the Bundesliga championship in 2011 and 2012.

How exciting are European football leagues – strategic management

The success of these two German clubs proves a point that Roland Berger Strategy Consultants made this year when it investigated just how exciting Europe’s five biggest football leagues can get. According to this study, the race for the championship is most exciting in the German and French leagues. We spoke about that fascinating idea with Valerius Braun, Senior Consultant at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and one of the authors of the study.
